Umoja University is an important step in our schools' year-long partnerships with Umoja!

This highly interactive two-day institute offers a deep dive into Umoja's partnerships by practicing and exploring research-based strategies that develop college-going, career-focused, restorative cultures within classrooms and throughout the school community.

Participants learn the basic and intermediate principles of restorative justice, foundations of experiential learning, Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) standards and how they apply to everyday practice and effective methods for guiding students to a postsecondary plan. Participants walk away with tangible tools and strategies for student engagement and culture-building, as well as a deeper understanding of key restorative justice, social-emotional learning and college and career readiness topics.

Umoja University is scheduled for August 16 and 17, 2016 at Loyola University in downtown Chicago, IL. There is an additional day of planning as determined by school team leads. For more information, email Dawn Hicks, Chief Program Officer, at dhicks(at)umojacorporation.org.
