Cynthia is currently a Consultant with Umoja and has been for 10 years. In that time, she’s done curriculum writing, implementing advisory programs and facilitating professional development both in and outside of the organization.

She also has 10 years of teaching experience at the high school level in CPS (such roles include Social Studies Teacher, Department Chairperson, Reading Specialist, Curriculum Coordinator, Teacher Leader). Cynthia’s professional career also includes being a University Supervisor at DePaul University for 5 years. She also taught GED courses at Wright Junior College for 4 years. Cynthia holds a B.A. in Social Science with a minor in Sociology (DePaul University) and an M.Ed. in Reading and Learning Disabilities (DePaul University). She also has a Professional Educator License with endorsements in Civics/Political Science, English, Geography, Learning Behavior Specialist I, Learning Disabilities, Reading Teacher, Sociology, Social Science, U.S. History and World History, and Secondary Education.
